16th October : GIR Leg 2 Day 13 : Silvassa and Daman

The initial plan of staying at Daman got changed to Silvassa at the last minute, as we never knew that would be the place where Manav would be taking us. Abhinav, who was riding a Honda CBR 600RR and Rishi joined us too and took us to Madhuban Dam, which is made on the Daman Ganga river. The last few kilometers of the ride included passing narrow village roads, with green fields all around which finally gave way to the view of the main wall of the dam. The main road which leads to the dam wouldn’t have had given us an opportunity to go almost next to the control gates of the dam, and so Rishi took us through the back roads, which actually gave us a chance to see the beautiful flat lands and hills of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Riding up to the dam, I had never been so close to these structures, what a pity, there only one gate open, that too partially, and so the fury of water coming out of the gate wasn’t that mad. Nevertheless, there were only a few kids present there and that really helped us enjoy the location and view of the hills and the river from the top of the dam, where I walked up to while the others while busy photographing. The top of the dam has closed gates, but not a single official around and that helped me climb a couple of small gates, which brought me on top of the closed gates and gave me awesome views of the surrounding hills, the river and the green cover all around. How I wish I was the only soul present there, albeit with the person who matters the most to me….
We were there for another couple of hours, shooting around and capturing little kids diving into the water on our cameras before leaving the place due to utter thirst as the sun was out and soaking up what ever liquids our bodies had! We left back for the hotel, not before Sunny went into a cactus park! Manav on the way back crashed the CBR 600RR and the rest of the evening was spent trying to fix it somehow and riding to the Jampore beach, around half an hour away. As much as the place was good, the ride too was nothing short of amazement – I had the Fireblade to myself and how could I spare this moment to feel every single horsepower of the engine…
We leave for Mumbai tomorrow... very tired and utterly confused – why? Read on…
