6th Nov : Kovallam & Poovar Island

6th Nov : Kovallam & Poovar Island

I started my day by doing what I really love doing. Sleep! While Sunny, Sunil and Ashish went with the Trivandrum guys, I was in the room, covering up on sleep. Finally at sometime after noon, I was woken up by Ashish when he called me to inform about his accident! A dog had come in his path, while he was riding with the gang and while he tried his best to avoid the animal, the Comet hit it and flew in the air, throwing Ashish on the road and in the process, the poor animal died. The hit was so hard, it didn’t even bleed much and died probably of internal injuries. Ashish scraped his knee badly and his leg ligament too took the toll! He was taken to the local hospital by the members and Sunny in the meantime got the Fireblade cleaned up from a pressure wash workshop. I kept waiting for the guys to come back the hotel and they returned quite late, and in the process I ended being empty stomach till 4pm! Sunny thankfully got me a Pizza and we immediately left for Poovar island. Ashish rested in the room and so I took out the pick-up vehicle and we three went in it, being escorted by the Trivandrum gang. The sun had already gone down but still I had heard a lot about the place and sunny had been there too and had seen the beauty of it.

Pic 1 : No, the boat wasnt speeding! Pic taken on long exposure... Pic 2 : On way to Poovar island

The boat takes around ten minutes to reach the island and once on the resort, you are in a different world all together. Its nothing short of being called a 5 star resort and room rates for the floating cottages are to the tune of 10 grands per night!

We had some snacks in the coffee shop and discussed about life and all but had to hurry up back as couple of guys from team-bhp would be coming to the hotel to meet up. The ride back in the boat was fun as well as scary. We couldn’t see a thing around but the boat guy knew what he was doing. There was complete darkness all around but we could see the outline of the land that we were approaching – kinda creepy!

After driving the pick-up for a good twenty minutes, we were back in the room and met the guys from team-bhp. Quite enthusiastic guys and we chatted a lot about the ride and cars and things in general.

With the Team-Bhp.com guys

Dinner was once again in one of the restaurants on the beach and got packed food for Ashish as he couldn’t move around. Today, let the pictures do the talking….

Tomorrow we head to the tip of India – Kanyakumari
