Jaguar "XKR 75" 2011 Performa Istimewa Yang Nyaman & Dinamis

Pada pertengahan 2010, Jaguar melepas model terbaru XKR 75th Anniversary. Sport coupe berkelir stratus Gray ini sangat istimewa, karena jumlah produksinya hanya 75 unit untuk dilepas ke seluruh dunia.

XKR 75, demikian edisi terbatas ini disebut, memberikan paket performa serta keistimewaan lain yang tak bisa ditemukan pada model XKR standar. Selain itu, konsumen masih diberi kesempatan untuk memilih grafis yang ditempel dari depan, hingga buritan XKR 75.

Performa pasti menjadi yang utama pada XKR 75. Jaguar mengklaim mesin 5.0-liter supercharged hanya membutuhkan waktu 4,4 detik untuk melesatkan XKR 75 dari kondisi diam ke kecepatan 100 km/jam.

Itu akan menjadi sangat wajar, mengingat XKR 75 menyimpan tenaga maksimum 530 hp dan torsi 655 Nm. Dengan kata lain, catatan ini lebih cepat 0,2 detik dari model XKR bertenaga 510 hp.

XKR 75 mampu berprilaku lebih agresif lagi, karena Jaguar telah melakukan serangkaian perubahan. Selain menggunakan material aluminium ringan, XKR 75 juga mengaplikasi paket body kit aerodinamis, serta tak lupa dengan sistem kemudi dan suspensi yang canggih.

Dengan besutan seperti inilah, Jaguar berkata, XKR 75 ialah mobil sirkuit balap yang sesungguhnya pantas untuk hidup dan berlenggang di jalan raya.

Demi mengimbangi perangainya yang dinamis, tim desainer Jaguar membuat tatanan interior yang juga kental dengan semangat balap. Padanan kulit pilihan untuk pembungkus bangku, sudah barang tentu terpadu apik dengan instrumen panel yang bersentuhan dengan aluminium.

Dan pastinya, sport coupe Jaguar XKR 75 tetap mengedepankan tradisi yang "nyaman". Itu kata kuncinya.

Jaguar Wants a Smaller Model to Compete with the BMW 3-Series & Co.

With a lineup that comprises only three models – the XK coupe and cabriolet, XF sedan and XJ flagship limousine –, Jaguar needs a smaller, more affordable car in order boost sales and successfully compete with the likes of the BMW 3-series and the rest of Germany's premium offerings such as the Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4. According to the brand’s new global director, Adrian Hallmark, the automaker is currently considering a small sports car positioned below the XF that could spawn numerous variants including a four-door sedan.

“We need different models. We need lower priced models”, said Hallmark. “Whether we do one, two or three body styles, we can still decide. But we have to be in the lower price.”

The process is still in its initial phase and it’ll take at least four years until Jaguar will bring something to the table, but Hallmark promises that the new model won’t be anything like the ill-fated, Ford Mondeo-based X-Type that was first offered a decade ago.

“We don't want to be fighting it out in the fleet business with little engines and small wheels and discounted 25 percent”, he said. “If we go into the smaller car market, we want to build elegant cars with great technology that give a sense of occasion and position us above that competition -- where Jaguar should be.”

Russian Customizer Turns a Jaguar into a GAZ-21 Lookalike

Previously on Carscoop, we’ve seen Pontiac Fieros turned into “Fierarris”, Toyota Soarers adorned with Mercedes-Benzes off cuts and some others too hideous to even mention. For the most part, it’s a case of turning a boring, mainstream car into something that resembles a high-priced exotic if you’re squinting through grease paper with the sun in your eyes and have lost a lot of blood.

What you rarely see is something exotic transformed into something that some people would call mundane. That’d just be silly. Never to be one to shy away from a challenge, the Russians have done just that: taken a Jag and turned it into a GAZ.

Originally this car was a 1993 Jaguar XJ40 with an automatic transmission and a 3.2 L V6. Its exterior has been adorned with the grille, head- and taillights, unique side vents and boot emblem from a ‘70s Volga. It’s not quite in the same league as the BMW 6-series derived Volga V8 Roadster or the Porsche Cayenne-based “Lenin-mobile”, but it’s still an impressive transformation.

No awkward shutlines, no weird overhangs: it just goes to show, when it comes to customization, the Russians know their craft. Maybe the results aren’t always attractive or tasteful, but they’ve got the engineering and mechanical side down pat.

To understand why this was done, you need to understand what the GAZ M21 Volga or GAZ-21 means to Russia. Over there, it’s as ubiquitous and well liked as the Mini, Checker cab or Citroen 2CV are in their respective nations. So it’s no surprise that Volga owners shower a lot of care and attention on their cars.

Working-class Americans used to aspire to own Cadillacs. Working-class poms used to aspire to own Rovers. And in Russia, working-class Russians aspired to own a GAZ. It’s that simple. Check out our gallery and let us know your view in the comments section below.
