BMW UK motorcycle registrations up 15%

BMW Motorrad UK appear to have beaten the credit crunch for 2008!

UK motorcycle registrations fell by 5.3%*, but in 2008, BMW Motorrad UK achieved its highest ever number of registrations, increasing year on year sales by 15%, with a total of 5,850 bikes sold.

Combined sales of the R 1200 GS and its Adventure variant unofficially made it the UKs best-selling bike. Registrations totalled 2,411 units, up 21% over 2007.

BMW Motorrad increased its market share from 5% to 6% in 2008, to become the 6th best selling motorcycle manufacturer in the UK.

The BMW K1200 R

Visitors to the Carole Nash International Motorcycle and Scooter Show which runs from 28 November – 7 December at the NEC, Birmingham have chance to win a new BMW K1200 R motorcycle (kindly donated by BMW Motorrad UK) by buying National Draw tickets at the show in support of BEN. The winner will be announced on the last day of the show, 7th December, on the MCN stage.

BEN is the Automotive Industry Charity, the only occupational charity for those who work or have worked in the automotive and related industries. Founded in 1905, the Charity provides practical help, support, advice and friendship to more than 15,000 men and women and their families every year. In addition BEN provides a home to over 350 individuals who reside in one of its four residential centres in the UK and offers day care facilities at its centre in Coventry.
