The immigration system mirrors the economy, now we know it. H1B visas (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137085.html) are still available with more than 15,000 are up for grabs. The numbers are pretty much unchanged since late May.
As of August 14, 2009, approximately 45,000 H-1B cap-subject petitions and approximately 20,000 petitions qualifying for the advanced degree cap exemption had been filed. USCIS will continue to accept both cap-subject petitions and advanced degree petitions until a sufficient number of H-1B petitions (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137085.html) have been received to reach the statutory limits, taking into account the fact that some of these petitions may be denied, revoked, or withdrawn. We will keep you posted with any changes in this area.

I got my DL reneul yesterday..there want any Visa question asked at all..??..Is texas not following DL reneual only untill your visa expiry date??..:confused:
Even I got my TX DL renewed for 6 more years 2-3 months ago and that too on internet. Texas is a real liberal state! Michigan sucks.

HI,
My wife is going to India and She has to get her H4 stamped again(I am on H1 and received my next 3 year extension and so did my wife).
My parents are also planing to visit me. Should I book my wife's appointment along with my parent's appointment , or should I book 2 different appointments one for my wife and one for both my parents.

Wife need to go to India for emergency. Advance Parole expired. Can she already leave while I apply AP now ? Or does she have to be in country until we get it ? Can i apply now and send it to her once i get it here ?

Hello,
I would like to prepare for the worst scenario that might happen in near future since I only got about two months of H1B
I didn't even know what " RFE" was until I recently received it. From my first H1B app to LC, things have gone so smoothly.. but now I am starting to realize that this could be jeopardize my whole career in U.S if I don't get approved from I140.
When I started my PERM processing last year,my lawyer made sound so easy about getting a GC that the paralegal who handles my case has never told me anything about" if things goes wrong",which I am afraid that it might be happen soon...
If I get denied from I140, Is there a way to extend my H1B ? or any other way to keep my job in U.S legally ? Could anyone give me some advice ?

I have an Andvance Parole valid till Feb'10 end. However right now am in India and wish to stay back even after the AP expiry. In this scenario is it good to apply for renewal AP from India or is it advisable to return back to US and then apply for AP?
Does any one provide how much time it takes for the renewal if I apply for AP from India. Do I need to give the India address for delivery? I have some one in US who can recieve the AP by mail and can send it by post to India. Is this an advisable?

My Mother in law appeared at hyderabad US consulate and IO told her that she got visa but asked her to come up with new passport, becoz some letters in her current passort has faded out.
Is this happend with any one? and what we do in this situation after getting new passport?
I mean do we need another appointment or just go with new passport and drop?
Please through some thouts.

Can you buy a home while your 485 is pending? How about loan approval i.e., does it impact your ability to get loan?

Hi,
Company A filed I-485 (PD Aug 28, 2006). Another Company B filed for I-140 with a pre-approved labor dated Nov 23,2005. If the I-140 gets approved from Company B, can I use that to port my priority date to Nov 23, 2005? If I move to Company B after porting the PD, do I have to stay with Company B and if so how long?
(I am planning to stay with Company A for 6 months and then move to Company B using AC21. )

Hi, I was in India when my husband applied for my H1B in 2008. I got it picked in lottery and got the approval too. I came to US on H4. After Oct 1st 2008, we applied for Change of Status to H4 to legally complete the work permit process. In the Change of Status applicatin form, my company accidently did a mistake of mentioning that Current status=H1B, New status required=H1B. :mad: USICIS, on seeing the application, took a decision to give me H4 with new I-94. I tried calling the USCIS helpdesk, but in vain. :confused:
1) Now what should I do to start working in H1B?
2) Was I correct in ging throughChange of Status? Or could I start working with the approval copy I had?
3) Could I apply for SSN with the 2008 approval copy?
Any answers would be greatly apprrciated!. Thanks in advance........

Keeping in view the current and anticipated situation in Oct 2007, would priority date transfer help me at all or I will have to face same processing times?
My assumption is that visa numbers will be unavailable from Aug 17th to Oct '07 and when the new visa number become available, the dates will retrogress to 2003 or 2004 ... who knows. So using old PD may earn me advantage in that case.
