My labor is approved, but haven't received approval from immigration yet. Online status is showing it is 'CERTIFIED'. Can I file I-140/485 with just electronic confirmation of labor in case if it get delayed in receiving approval? Bwy does anybody have an idea in how many days immigration will dispatch the approval copy of labor after it is certified?

One of my friend had a problem in the recieved EAD card
- they took an infopass appointment at the local center http://infopass.uscis.gov/
- based on their advice - they sent another application without fees - and they corrected and sent a new EAD card

My lawyer notified that he has received an RFE for incorrect info on the I-485 Biographic info form. The last entry in the "last 5 years in the US" address list contains a start date of when i was not even in the US. Apparently his assistant goofed up with a typo. He is recommending that i prepare a signed affadavit explaining to the CIS that it was an honest mistake. Would that be enough? Can the G-325 be resubmitted ?

But there will soon be more. Lots more, and almost every one of them will have an impact on the markets and business growth.

In response, some Democrats have said they can play that game, too. A faction thinks the last thing they should do is let pass almost any legislative initiative Bush and his party can claim credit for, including the immigration and energy bills Congress is working on.
These confrontations are shortsighted no matter who's to blame. A budget impasse would depress markets and weaken the dollar. Failure of the immigration bill would threaten businesses that hire illegal immigrants with increased sanctions or compel them to hire fewer people, either of which would lead to higher prices. And energy shortages could easily become chronic unless more is done to reduce our reliance on high-price oil.
Shallow political finger-pointing is not an adequate response.

Hello everyone!
My wife has filed for my immigration and AOS around a week back. I would be expecting the biometrics appointment letter to arrive by the 25th of August. Now, I got a call from India yesterday informing me about my grandmother being admitted in the hospital, almost breathing her last. The doctors have all but given up.
My question here is whether I can go to the USCIS office with the doctor's letters and all the remaining proofs to expedite my AP well before my biometrics are done? If yes, what else would I require in terms of documents? I can just barely wait getting it done, but I dont want to leave without the AP document.
P.S.: I haven't yet received any NOAs.

Hi
My wife H1B was approved under Consular Processing. She got job offer now and it is a Consulting job to Hire. We applied COS at CSC by Premium processing. Reached application on Sep 28 and Status is Acceptance by then.
1 ) Everything is genuine and in the client letter it is mentioned as 6 Months contract to hire. Are there any posibbilities of getting H1B approved for only 6 months from now.
2 ) Are there any chances of rejection
3) Sincle past week it is under "Acceptance" stage. I know i have to be patient.
4) Can we expect some decision from them this week as client is waiting.
5) At what time CSC updates the case. Is there any particular time they update the case online.

Can a person join a new employer for doing his LC, based on already sent out ads ???
what they are telling me is that the ad is very general for EB2 which was sent out even before one joined the company. so my question would be that can a person go ahead and use the already sent out ads or one should raise some red falgs, not to go for it ???

Can people convert LC pending in BEC to PERM? If So, how safe it is and how much time it takes totally.
Yes, and its well known. Talk to or just visit Murthy or Immigrationportal and you will find lot of discussion on this topic. In a nutshell, as long the PERM application is identical to BEC pending application you can convert to PERM. Make sure to find an attorney familiar in such type of cases.

Hello All,
The officer at the SSN issuing center told me since my passport and the stamped I-94 have my maiden I will get an SSN also in the maiden name and not my married name.
However I had already filed for my EAD (form I-765) before getting this information with my married name which I need to change to the maiden name. I have received an appointment letter for biometrics/finger printing (FP) . What should be done now? Should I wait and tell the officer during the FP about this name change that I need or how should I go about it?

I have applied for AP (I131) on 8/14/09 and my I-485 got approved on 9/01/09. Is USCIS is going to return my I131 fee or is there anything I have to initiate from my end to get the refund?.

off the Topic! Sorry. Wondering if any IVian has good idea about itemized deductions we can take while working on 1099-MISC instead of on W-2? There might be good chunk of Spouses working on 1099 in IT or other areas of expertise while working on EAD.what kind of expenses where we need to save receipts while filing Taxes later on in '09.
