Pagani Designer Envisions an Electric Sports Coupe

Now this is more like it. Antonio Bruno’s Electrodynamics Concept is an acrylic-bodied electric sports car design study for the 21st century. To me it sort of looks like an unlikely crossbreed between a Lamborghini Espada and a Hyundai Genesis Coupe, or maybe a next-generation Tesla Motors model. Bruno describes it thusly:

“The absence of a brand reference has contributed to the free forms and is totally devoted to aerodynamic influences and perceptions typical of product design. The upper dome is formed from a tinted acrylic component that stretches up to the front bumper, where it could hide the additional headlights.

First Video of Pagani's Huayra Gullwing Supercar, Hear the 700+HP V12

It's been less than 24-hours since Pagani released the first photos of its new Huayra, yet we have the first video of the supercar, courtesy of EVO magazine that was invited to the firm's headquarters for a sneak peek. The short clip provides a quick walk around as well as an inside view of the car and, in a rather surreal moment, the Mercedes AMG-sourced 700+ horsepower V12 coming to life and scaring a German Sheppard. Watch the video after the break.

The Zonda is Dead. Long Live the New Pagani Huayra! Official Photos and Details of 700HP Supercar

After a series of leaked magazine shots hit the internet this past weekend, Pagani today officially released its new Huayra supercar model in a rather anticlimactic way. Designed to replace the much-hyped Zonda series, Horacio Pagano's newest creation is named after the Andean god of wind, Aymara Huayra Tata.

The Huayra has a somewhat softer styling and isn't as raw as the Zonda, but the two models do share a similar silhouette. As always, design is a matter of personal taste, so feel free to express your opinion about the car's styling in our comments section below.

Pagani's newcomer also gets a pair of swooping gullwing doors which introduce the driver and passenger to a truly bespoke interior with some impressive details such as the exposed gear selector.

The Italian supercar is built around an all-new carbon-titanium monocoque frame while the body parts are constructed from carbonfiber. Lightweight materials are used throughout the car, with the Huayra tipping the scales at 1,350 kg or 2,976 pounds.

Behind the passenger compartment sits a spanking new 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine, specially built for Pagani by Mercedes-Benz's AMG performance division. The 12-cylinder beast churns out more than 700 hp and a torque of over 1000 Nm [737 lb-ft], with exact figures as well as performance numbers to be announced at a later date.

The enormous power and torque of the 12-cylinder engine from Stuttgart is transferred to the rear wheels through a seven-speed sequential gearbox cross and a dual-disc clutch.

While no official prices have been released yet, the Huayra is expected to cost around €1,000,000.

Technical Specs:

- Engine: Mercedes-AMG V12 Bi-Turbo M158
- Displacement: 5980 cc
- Power:> 700cv
- Torque:> 1000 Nm
- Transmission: 7-speed sequential cross. AMT robotic system with driving programs
- Length: 4605mm
- Wheelbase: 2795mm
- Height: 1169mm
- Width: 2036mm
- Dry weight: 1350 kg
- Weight distribution: 44% front 56% rear

Leaked Magazine Shots Overshadow Fourth Pagani C9 Video Teaser

Only a few hours after Pagani released the fourth teaser of the upcoming supercar codenamed C9 – and dubbed Huayra by an increasing number of sources –, a set of allegedly official magazine scans surfaced online. The pictures are said to be sourced from the upcoming February edition of the Spanish-language Car Magazine, featuring several shots of Horacio Pagani's new supercar.

There’s no way of telling if the photos are indeed real and not some skillfully done photoshops, but we have to say that the car shown is not what we expected. Sure, the gullwings are nice additions, but the rest is just a mild makeover of the Zonda, which in this case is a turn off.

According to the magazine, the new model will cost €1 million (US$1.36 million), while the annual production will be limited to just 20 units. Once again, we can’t confirm this, but the price sounds about right.

As for the teaser, it presents a sketch being drawn with Horacio Pagani himself providing the voiceover. “We wanted to give shape to the wind”, Mr. Pagani said. “And Huayra is our wind”. Only time will tell if that sketch has anything to do with the Zonda replacement and if it’ll be called Huayra after all.

VIDEO: Pagani Teases the Exterior of its Upcoming C9 Supercar

For the third week in a row, Pagani is teasing its upcoming C9 supercar. Compared to the previous videos, the literally dark atmosphere of the clip makes it harder for the viewer to discern the details of the curvaceous body, including the tail lights, exhaust tips and front bumper. An added bonus is a clearer shot of the steering wheel and instrument panel. Hit the jump to watch the teaser and screenshots.
