Indie singer Taru releases second album, “100 Percent Reality”

Indie singer Taru has returned after a two-year hiatus with her second studio album, “100 Percent Reality“.

Taru debuted amidst much praise and anticipation back in 2007 as the vocalist for The Melody, and went on to release her own mini-album, “R.A.I.N.B.O.W.” in 2008. Since then, she’s appeared in CM songs, drama OSTs, and collaborations with other artists like Epik High and Wheesung before releasing her debut self-titled album in 2009.

Fans of her sugary-sweet voice welcomed her return with open arms; indeed, it seems that her comeback was highly anticipated in the indie scene, for “100 Percent Reality” is currently ranking on various indie charts. Music fans excitedly commented, “This is real, 100% music”, and “I teared up the minute I listened to it.”

Taru said, “I received a text message from a fan that said, ‘I was thinking of suicide because of the depression from my break-up, but I listened to this album and found myself again’. I’m glad that my album is able to help others.”

TVXQ’s ‘Shilla Duty Free’ CFs released!

TVXQ has unveiled their CF for ‘Shilla Duty Free‘, and lucky for us, we got not one, not two, but three different versions!

In the commercial, we see Yunho running furiously towards Changmin, who’s a bit busy trying to lock lips with a girl. ‘Version B’ continues from where the first CF left off, only the lady seems a little less than pleased with Changmin, and endeavors to beat him up with a luxury bag (that’s of course stocked with luxury cosmetics). Finally in ‘Version C’, we seem to go back in time, as Yunho is still running for the couple, who are getting very intimate outside the shops.

Each version ends with the phrase, “My journey begins. The Shilla Duty Free.”

It’s a big question as to how this commercial relates to shopping at all, but one thing is certain: eye candy for everyone!

IU rises above her haters, performs well on SBS’s “Kiss & Cry”

On June 12th, IU delivered an impressive performance on SBS’s “Kiss & Cry“, effectively rising above the heavy-handed criticisms from last week.

As revealed earlier, her performance with partner Choi In Hwa was done under a cheerleader concept to the tune of “Girlfriend” by Avril Lavigne. Because she placed last in the first competition, IU showed signs of nervousness amidst flashes of fierce determination to do better this round.

When she got on the ice, IU managed to pull off moves like ‘through the leg’, ’spiral’, ‘rotational rifts’, and other complex stunts. Kim Yuna stated, “You’ve improved greatly compared to a week ago. Thank you for working hard.”

Looking as if she was about to cry at the praise, IU replied, “I feel great right now.”

Judge Kim Jang Hoon added, “It seems you’ve managed to overcome your obstacles. I would like to applaud you for that.”

IU received a total score of 32.6 in the end, which led her to burst out, “I received a lot of praise, so I definitely feel more confident. There were a lot of people who didn’t view me in a positive light, so I was honestly very upset. A lot of people said that I didn’t work hard, but I think I did work hard… I think it’s because I’m not that good. In our next competition, I promise to show even more improvement.”

Rania talks about their “Masquerade” performance

On June 10th, Rania made their return with their follow-up track, “Masquerade,” on KBS’s “Music Bank.” Following their performance, the girls sat down for an interview with TV Daily and shared their thoughts on their return.

The girls began, “It’s a stage we still feel nervous about, just like our debut. We’re a performance-geared group so we all want to show something amazing. Member T-ae injured her ankle while rehearsing for ‘Masquerade’ so she has to compress it with bandages to perform on stage. It’s really upsetting.”

T-ae revealed, “The choreography for ‘Dr. Feel Good‘ was difficult, but ‘Masquerade’ is even more difficult. I’m receiving treatment at the hospital so I will get better. It’s an injury, but I’m working harder to show that we don’t lack anything as a performance group.”

Rania continued, “We want to show something different from our debut, both in our image and our outfits. There was a sexually suggestive controversy, but we hope that people will take an interest in the concept that we hope to show.”

When asked to describe their style for “Masquerade”, the girls replied, “It’s a lot more detailed than ‘Dr. Feel Good.’ Performing with a mic is definitely harder than before. Through ‘Masquerade’, we hope to show that we have a powerful charm and energize the public as well.”
