It goes to the FBI database. They do an extensive backgroud check on you for upto 7 years. They go verify your background in your home country too. If you remember they would have asked you to fill up a biographic information form along with the fingerprinting.
I have submited my FP all 10 fingers when I was working for my past employer which was a financial company dealing in Credit Cards business. They collect it when they issue badge as part of security and its a federal requirement for financial company. I am not sure if they maintain it internally or send it to FBI for storage does any one have any info?

you need to spend 12 months outside of US to apply -- My understanding is that you have to wait 12 months before applying.

I think we should still concentrate on taking to Sen. McCains office. Immigration reform was his pet project and now that the election is over he can muster up the bipartisan effort required to move this forward. Immigration is not high on Obamas agenda and i doubt you will see action from him on that issue. The other option is to keep pushing for the 5882 during the lame duck session.
Meeting the first lady will be a waste of time and efforts...imo.

Before she changes her job so soon after I-485 approval. Make sure you understand the consequences of not staying with your petitioning employer.
Your intent may be questioned during Naturalization process. Talk to an attorney. I dont think people can just switch employers after 485 is approved rightaway.

For case where GC and H1b sponsoring employer is same, please tell (as per USCIS rules/guidelines):
1. When switching from H1b to EAD (while working for GC sponsoring employer) does GC/H1b sponsoring employer have to cancel H1b ?
2. If on AP/EAD WITHOUT work, is there any liability to GC/H1b sponsoring employer ? Does he have to cancel H1b ?

According to him They won�t vote on any immigration bills till after the election.
So it seems it will be after november only.
But look at the positive side. We have more time to contact the law makers.

I have a word of advice for you. Don�t use TOI (Times of India) style headlines to mislead people into reading your post. If you are one of those Indians who has an innate desire to look at everything with a shade of pink glasses you should reconsider living here. Airlines don�t fly one way from India to US. You can always take the flight back home. 16-hour workdays, a fantastic work life balance, and all basic amenities await you in the land of kamadhenu (the sacred mythological cow that gave the Hindu Gods everything they needed for a happy life)

Mine and my wife's EAD was filed online within few hours. Mine got approved while my wife's application was still pending.
Yes, USCIS is not processing on FIFO order at all. Calling USCIS will help, if you are almost close to ead expirationa and in danger of loosing job.
Don't waste time and be anxious about it, if you are months away from expiration.

in my case i have applied for EAD/AP on 31st July and the same way, i got direct CPO email (no case Approved..) on 26th Aug. spouse AP approved on 20th Aug (but on my AP and spouse EAD still no LUD)
so no one know in what sequence USCIS is processing EAD/AP/485!

While on AoS, are we classified as US Resident - as long as we pass the IRS resident test of presence in US.

While AoS is pending, the status is Temp US Resident. This is same on H1/L1/H4/L2.
This is nothing to do with status for tax filing. Example: one staying at B1 status for 183+ days will be classified as US resident just for tax filing (if he has income such as share income), for all other purposes he is still a visitor.

I think its your LC job requirements which governs EB2/EB3. For EB2 classification on your I-140, your job must require 'Masters' or 'Bachelors+5Yrs Experience' on Labor Certification.

You can get SSN is you could provide a proof that it is required for taking an exam or license. You need to show that the process requires and also get a letter from the license issuer that it required to issue a license.
