For that someone special

Everyone is against you. They call you a moron, call you nuts, tell you to back off. But you dont. You have a plan, a surprise, a dream.
You try to finish work early and leave asap. The bike has already been filled, your stuff already packed. You cant tell your parents who are back home waiting for your call each night, for they will whip your ass if they come to know. You call them early, making an excuse that you will be out till late night with friends.
You hit the highway (NH4) as the sun is about to go down. The first few kilometers are taken easily, but soon, the right wrist does what it does best. The kilometers fly past, the sun vanishes into the horizon and soon, you are left to the mercy of your headlight. 2 hours pass by, but you dont wanna take a break. For the destination is still hundred of kilometers away. Five hours and close to 400km later, the pain from your stone (bladder) is too much to bear. You enter a city, search for the cheapest hotel and crash.
Before sun-rise you are back on the highway. A lot has to be covered. You gun for it, and in the process miss the turn off for NH17. Backtracking, you are finally on the single lane highway to Ankola (NH17). The sun is out, but its raining and you cant do anything. You skip breakfast, just refill the bike and carry on. Your destination is just a couple of hours away. Butt is aching, stomach is complaining. But you dont stop.

Finally you hit the city. Language is a big issue and you take your time finding your destination. You finally arrive, after 850odd kilometers. Tired, hungry, sleepy. You make a call, and she answers. Her voice never sounded so sweet. You tell her to come down. The moments she sees you, tears fill your eyes. She jumps in joy, runs towards you and hugs you. Her warmth sheds apart all the cold you had from riding wet. But soon, she scolds you for riding all the way from Pune to Mangalore. All you can say, 'coz I love you'

Harley-Davidson announce 2010 model lineup

Over the weekend Harley-Davidson released details of their 2010 model line up which includes 9 new models.
The highlights are:-

The Electra Glide® Ultra Limited model delivers the performance upgrade of a Twin Cam 103™ engine, and features standard equipment items previously offered only as accessories on regular-production Harley-Davidson Touring models.

- The new Road Glide® Custom model looks lean and mean, with a slammed suspension, 18-inch front wheel and a new 2-into-1 exhaust system.

- The Wide Glide® returns as an all-new Dyna® model done in old-school chopper style, with black laced wheels, a chopped rear fender, black “wire” sissy bar, 2-1-2 Tommy Gun exhaust and an optional flame paint scheme.

- The new Street Glide® Trike brings stripped-down, hot-rod styling to the three-wheel category, and joins the Tri Glide™ Ultra Classic® in an all new Trike family for 2010.

- The new Fat Boy® Lo presents a darker and lower interpretation of the motorcycle that still defines the fat-custom segment.

- Updates to the 2010 Street Glide® model include a larger front wheel, slimmed-down exhaust, and a new tail light assembly.

- Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations™ (CVO™) will offer four new limited-production models for 2010: the CVO Softail® Convertible, CVO Street Glide, CVO Ultra Classic® Electra Glide® and CVO Fat Bob®.

As always we've some pic's of a few of the models:-

2010 Suzuki GSR250 : The 250cc B-king

PICS FROM WWW.MOTORCYCLENEWS.COM

We told you about the new 250cc Fazer - the YBR250 for the UK market (READ) and also about the new Honda VTR250 that will compete with the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 250R
Now Suzuki is gearing up to launch a smaller variant of the B-King that it will call the GSR 250. Remember the smaller GSR750 we told you about? It seems Suzuki is very serious on extending its GSR range to smaller bikes as well.

The pictures were leaked onto www.motorcyclenews.com and they claim these to be the final images. The engine is said to be a completely new 250cc V-twin, that the company might use in others bikes later on - a cruiser may be?

Watch this space for more on the new Suzuki GSR250.

Suzuki 650 V-Storm

Suzuki 650 V-Storm
The first bike we ever tested, about 100 years ago, was the Suzuki V-Strom. It’s a great bike, with a wonderful engine, surprisingly good handling and looks only its mother could love. And now here we are testing the runt of the litter, the V-Strom 650. And what’s changed? At first glance very little. It’s still enormous, still as practical as ever and still as ugly as a drunken brawl. In fact, the only obvious difference between siblings is the single exhaust on the smaller bike and a slightly less leery colour scheme.
Taking the 650 V-Strom home, then, was likely to be something of an anticlimax. Especially as over the last few weeks I had mainly been riding the GSX-R 1000 tested elsewhere. One extreme to the other, you might say. And you’d be dead right, of course. And completely wrong. Because, despite its bulk and relatively small engine, the 650 V-Strom is not a slow bike. Not by any means.
That little motor, more commonly seen in everyone’s favourite first big bike the SV650, may only produce 66ps but it does it in style. I am pushed to remember the last time I rode a vee twin that revved this happily and I certainly can’t think of one this small that went this well.
Let’s look at the downsides, because there must be some. And there are. The SV650 is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a pretty bike. Understatement. It’s as ugly as sin. Happily, though, it is also nearly as much fun. The only other criticism I have is also aesthetic and purely down to my own taste and memory. If the term ‘plastic maggot’ means nothing to you then please feel free to skip this bit.

Suzuki Biplane concept

Suzuki Biplane concept
The Suzuki Biplane motorcycle that is currently on display at the Tokyo Auto Show was inspired design-wise by the classic Wright Brothers biplane, but I personally think it looks more like that red mean machine that Akira rode in the groundbreaking anime by Katsuhiro Otomo. Will there be secret wings hidden inside this beast? Probably not, but chances are you'll be able to fly in this thing and put just about any other vehicle on the road to shame with your speed.

Ducati Strada Aperta : The GS killer!

As we get closer to the unveiling of Ducait’s Multistrada replacement in Novemeber, the spy shots of the “BMW GS killer” are becoming more apparent. After trolling the interwebernet, www.asphaltandrubber.com found two more shots of the upcoming Ducati Strada Aperta bike. The pics reveal some more detail about what the Strada Aperta (no word if that’s the official name, but it does seem to keep coming up) will look like from the side and front.
One of the photos seems to be from the same day of two other photos we showed you earlier this month, while this second photo appears to be a blur of the new bike in white livery, and minus masking tape. Both shots give us some idea of how the bike will look, and we’re liking it more and more.

Yamaha's turbo diesel : Patent filed

As per Autobloggreen.com Yamaha has filed patents for a new series of motorcycle-size turbodiesel engines in both inline-four and twin-cylinder configurations. Previously, established brands have not even so much as expressed an interest in diesel engines.

Yamaha would have to contend with packaging issues in placing a diesel engine in a motorcycle chassis as well as the physical size of an engine that’s made to withstand the high pressures and torque inherent in a compression ignition engine. Yamaha’s patents seek to set an arrangement of components particularly the intercooler, which is placed atop the engine under a “dummy tank” with the actual fuel tank moved below the bike’s saddle. So, are we ready to cruise on open American roads in the coming few years astride a turbo-diesel Yamaha big bore bike? Feel free to share!

The new Ducati 848 Nicky Hayden edition which will only be available in the States features the same 134-horsepower L-twin Evoluzione powerplant, wet-clutch and six-speed gearbox as the rest of the 848 line.

As the first of the 2010 848s introduced, the new Special Edition ushers in a revised LED dash cluster, optional 30mm mirror extensions for those with long-torsos and improved aluminum cam belt tensioner pulleys to go along with its new patriotic livery.

The 848 Nicky Hayden SE will carry a $14,495 sticker price – a reasonable $500 over the asking price for last year's 848 – and will hit Ducati dealerships in America on July 7th after being on display throughout the U.S. GP festivities starting on the 4th. 2010 Honda VFR1200T pictures

First the spy pics, then the sketches and now the real bike. Motorcycle News has revealed the pictures of Honda VFR1200T and we think it looks great!

This V4 engined bike will replace the Pan European model and when launched will be the most technologically-advanced bike in the world.

The bike looks absolutely amazing regardless of the color schemes, but these do help in forming a better opinion of what Honda will create and so encourage people to mention what they think about what they see. So, what do you think about the 2010 Honda VRF1200T?

2010 Suzuki GSR750 revealed

Lot of pictures have been floating around the net, which was first let out by the good guys at www.motorevue.com. The new 2010 750cc naked bike from Suzuki, the GSR750 might very well complement the existing GSR600 that has been well accepted in the market.

Suzuki is believed to be using the same mill found in the GSX-R750 : ofcourse it will be retuned (detuned) to give it more low and mid range boost. The 2010 Suzuki GSR750 will compete with the likes of the Kawasaki Z750 in markets. Bikers from USA however will be disappointed to know that this bike might not make it there. Even the GSR600 has primarily been a bike for the European and Asian markets. What do u have to say about this? Feel free to comment

Harley-Davidson and Buell no show at 2008 NEC Bike Show!

Harley-Davidson and Buell have announced today that they will not be exhibiting at the 2009 International Motorcycle and Scooter Show at the Birmingham NEC later this year. This comes after Honda advised it would not be exhibiting at the show earlier this year.

Well personally this is a great shame for all UK motorcyclists, three major motorcycle marques won't now be at the show. It makes you wonder who's next to pull out and quite bizarre when the show is run by the Motor Cycle Industry Assocation whom these maufacturers support!

It means we could be left only with the MCN London Motorcycle Show as the major national motorcycle show he way things are going!!!

Honda's first factory produced chopper (VT1300CX) comes to the UK

Honda (UK) Motorcycles have announced that their first factory produced chopper the VT1300CX will be coming to the UK in 2010. This Honda chopper is powered by a 1312cc 52-degree fuel-injected V-twin found in the popular VTX1300 machine, but with a re-profiled camshafts and a new exhaust system. Apparently the single-pin crank gives the bike a unique sound which growls through the machine’s twin stacked pipes.

The radiators for the liquid-cooled machine are tucked out of sight for a more ‘traditional’ look. It has a new programmed fuel injection system, further contributing to the impressively low fuel consumption of 56.5mpg*

The VT1300CX will be available in two colours – the striking glint blue wave metallic or graphite black.
